Your support is critical to Barefoot Artist’s ability to continue its work in communities around the world.

Lily Yeh established Barefoot Artists as a nimble and deliberately small nonprofit organization without the encumbrances of full time staff, office space etc. However, this is not a model that is often recognized or supported by large philanthropies. We rely on the contributions of indviduals like you!

When you contriubute to Barefoot Artists more of your donation goes directly to support our projects including:

  • Land transformation project at Dandelion School for migrant children in Beijing , collective designing for a massive south wall to be built in near future

  • Continued support for our ongoing Palestine Project. Currently we are working with local artists to conduct art workshops for children in the West Bank to listen their voices, comfort, empower through creating, and to help them to envision their future.

  • Continued support of Twa villagers’ farming efforts and children’s education as part of the Rwanda Healing Project.

  • Climate change and land management education program on the Tibetan Plateau, a collaboration with Zha Qong Chong in Roergai, Sichuan

  • A new Awakening Creativity project with Shui Jiang middle school in a remote rural community in Hunan province (China). The school contains mostly of  the “left behind" children during the massive migration of rural peasants moving to cities for work and livelihood. We’ll be conducting a site visit in mid-May 2024 to evaluate the site, conduct workshops with students and plan for the creation of large scale public art installations on the campus.

School Transformation at Mei Hwa Elementary School in Da Xi, Taiwan

The school is on the verge of disappearing due to its remote location and poor performance. We are implementing a comprehensive five-year Awakening Creativity Program, to transform the school environment, empower the school community, and build the capacity and confidence of the students.

Art, Justice, and Peace Program in West Bank, Palestinian Territories

We continue to work with communities in Nablus, Al Fa’raa Youth Center (a former prison camp), and Aqaba village. We plan to establish an itinerant art camp that can travel to work with children and communities in many places in West Bank.
